Job Description

Located in the foothills of Salt Lake City, Utah, Primary Children's Medical Center is a 289-bed freestanding level-one trauma center with a service area covering five states - Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Nevada. Primary Children's is the pediatric teaching hospital for the University of Utah School of Medicine and its physicians and is nationally recognized for its outstanding patient outcomes and was recognized by US News and World Report as one of the best children's hospitals in the country. The hospital enjoys unparalleled community support and was named one of Utah's most enduring companies.

Primary Children's Medical Center is seeking a Food & Nutrition Director to join it's outstanding leadership team. The position is responsible to plan, guide, and lead the provision of food and nutrition services to patients, employees and visitors while supporting the mission, vision, values and goals of the hospital and Intermountain Healthcare. They would be responsible for:

• Facilitating the provision of nutrition care and the food service department following the nutrition care process and utilizing knowledge of food service systems.
• Developing and implementing strategic direction for food and nutrition services.
• Hiring, training, mentoring, evaluating and disciplining staff based upon job requirements, core competencies, goals and values.
• Developing an operating budget using historical data, trends, and new technology to most effectively use resources while maintaining a strong and viable fiscal status. Will also identify and resolve budget variances.
• Assessing current department data against industry standards: creating and implementing long-term strategic plans, incorporating market advancement and trends to evaluate departments performance and anticipate future growth.
• Acting as a mentor for staff, students, and interns using one's knowledge and experience to promote personal growth and professional growth and development.

Minimum Requirements

• Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition, Foodservice Management, Business Administration or Public Health from an accredited institution. Intermountain verifies both degree attainment and educational institution accreditation following an offer of employment.
• Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetics Association
• A strong background in clinical dietetics and food service management with a minimum of three or more years of leadership and management experience.
• Intermediate level of understanding using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with multiple departments.

• Pediatric experience
