Position Overview:

This is a part time [20 hours per week] FLSA exempt position in the Metro DC area [Herndon, VA, Pentagon and other Location:s]. The Future Technology Consultant will work as part of a contractor team on the staff of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy (DUSN). The incumbant will integrate their knowledge of emerging technologies into Navy concepts and strategies. The incumbant will report to the project manager

and will plan, outline, draft, and finalize a variety of specialized analyses, briefings, and reports in support of the Secretariat. This will include development and execution of concept evaluation plans, execution plans, event directives, briefings, executive support, staffing plans and other documents.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

> Masters degree

> Minimum 3 years supporting Navy Secretariat, OPNAV, or HQMC staff in developing plans and policies with demonstrated ability to brief and advise senior leaders on all aspects of defense planning and policy

> Ability to think and write succinctly and with clarity of purpose at the post-graduate level

> Experience in Naval Operations

> Experience with DOD's capability development and resource allocation processes (JCIDS and PPBE)

> A conceptual understanding of naval concepts development, strategy and doctrine

> Experience in applying naval capabilities to the Strategic, Operational and Tactical levels of war

> Experience in identifying trends in the security environment, technology development, and warfighting concepts and analyzing their implications for the development of future naval capabilities

> Ability to think strategically, including the ability to recognize risks and alternatives and craft alternative naval capabililties to mitigate risks and exploit opportunities

> Extensive experience in the military, industry or academia
