Description: The position is responsible for performing and documenting the calibration and basic repair of measuring instruments, temperature controls, machine tools, and all measuring equipment.
1. Manage the gage inventory, calibration documents, and the calibration schedule in accordance with approved procedures. 2. Reviews and recommends updates to departmental calibration procedures for technical accuracy and relevance. 3. Maintains frequent communication with the internal customer to understand their needs, and perceptions, and that expectations are being met in a timely, decisive and cost effective manner. 4. Notifies Production Supervisors and consults with Production Engineering to resolve out of tolerance situations and analyze the Impact on production. 5. Reads Quality Control manual and understands testing specifications and performs tests or calibration on specific devices. 6. Measures and calibrates all machine tools. 7. Recommends any needed actions based on results found.
Qualifications: Applicant with a 2-year degree in Metrology, Mechanical Engineering is desired. ASQ Certified Calibration Technician would be a plus. Applicant will need 7-10 years working experience in hand gage and or machine tool calibration.
1. Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision. 2. Good written and verbal communication skills as well as effective interaction with team members and with other departments. 3. Commitment to being a team player with a flexible, positive, adaptive approach to resolving problems or changes. 4. Good analytical skills for identifying problems and creative ways to resolve these problems. 5. Proficiency in computer software tools and applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word. 6. Experience with the technical requirements and documentation related to ISO 9001.2008 7. Experience with the calibration of small hand tools. 8. Proficiency in the use of a CMM, laser ruler, autocollimator, electronic levels, linear lasers, calipers, micrometers, plug and thread gages, etc. 9. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Measurement proficiency in both English and metric systems. 10. Methodical with attention to detail and organizational skills.
