A well funded start-up company in the Online Media / Financial Services space in NYC is looking for a hands-on Lead of Java Software Engineering to develop the next generation of media buying, bidding, and selling solutions. Founders and Board Members are serial technology entrepreneurs from top Online Media and Financial Services companies and are looking for a top notch Software Engineering Lead to join the company and manage the development efforts and to grow and mentor a team of top notch developers. The Software Engineering Lead will: * Thrive in a fast paced, startup environment* Drive system architecture decisions: design, key technologies and languages, trade-offs, development environment, develop code, code management, and release process* Hire, lead, grow and manage a team of top engineering talent and Machine Learning experts with proven experience from industry leaders* Define technology strategies, standards, best practices, processes and guidelines This is an opportunity to make a major architecture design, development, and leadership impact in a growing start-up company within the hottest space and working with some of the best names in the industry and work with the opportunity to work on cutting edge technology! An excellent and very competitive compensation plan is successful applicant will possess the following requirements: * Have a start- up mentality and ability to make decisions independently* 8+ years of proven experience leading 80-100% hands-on software engineering and development, bringing products to market on schedule* A record of hands-on Java development experience with online media solutions and/or financial markets solutions (ad exchanges, ad networks, behavioral targeting, bidding optimization, game theory, and financial software solutions)* Excellent communications skills to collaborate with business owners and product management team to define the best product architecture choices and roadmap* Hands on system design and coding skills using the latest in Java and/or C++ technologies* Experienced in one or more of the following: distributed systems, data mining, market algorithms, and/or machine learning* Extensive programming and delivery experience, strong O-O skills preferred in Java or C++* MS or PhD in Computer Sciences, Mathematics or related discipline or equivalent skills and knowledge from relevant work experience* 8-10+ years of hands on system design and development skills using the latest Java and C++ technologies* 3-5+ year experience in a lead developer or architect capacity with 8-10 years of total IT experience.
