We are seeking a skilled Help Desk Engineer Guru with not only sound technical and time management skills, but the ability to interact with clients professionally. You'll be working with other engineers, using remote support tools, in an organized, supportive environment. Our clients are small to medium sized businesses in the Twin Cities with up to 100 users. They use a lot of Windows XP, Server, and Exchange, plus MS Office, Blackberries, iPhones and firewalls and routing infrastructure from a variety of vendors. The selection process starts with seven questions. Specialization is all right; you don't have to get a 100%, but if you can't answer 4 out of the 7 questions below (without Googling), then this isnt the position for you. If you respond to this job posting with answers to the following 7 questions, your resume will be reviewed and handled with priority. 1. Briefly describe how you would migrate a user from a Windows XP OS (any version) to a Windows 7 OS (any version). 2. All users at a certain office are reporting their internet is down. You confirm with the ISP that the line is up and stable. Walk through the next few *remote* troubleshooting steps. 3. Name two of the most effective ways to secure Wi-Fi wireless access. Which would you recommend and why? 4. How does an exchange server interact with Outlook configured for RPC over HTTPs? 5. If a user sends you an email with a screenshot of an error message they received how would you proceed to fix the problem and prevent the error message. 6. One user reports she is not receiving emails in Outlook. Other users are receiving emails fine. You check the Exchange server and confirm her mailbox and her user account are in good condition. What are a few common issues to check for on her local computer? 7. A user reports that their computer is running slow, briefly describe how and what you would check to identify the problem. Position requires some IT experience, over the phone customer support, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, basic networking, but above all a friendly personality, and ability to learn new technical things quickly.
