I&E Reliability Engineer
Performing the role of I/E Reliability Engineer, you will provide strong technical support on instrument and electrical equipment assets for Flint Hills Resources. You will be a member of a reliability team that manages these assets from a cradle to grave life cycle perspective. In this challenging position, you will be asked to frame-up sound and economically viable repair vs. replacement decisions. You will develop and manage proactive instrument and electrical reliability strategies and reliability programs that yield high uptime and predictable operation.
The I&E Reliability Engineer will work with plant technicians and engineers to develop a testing program for the safety shutdown systems and will manage the Instrument Mechanical Integrity Program across multiple sites. The individual will work with plant technicians and engineers to apply equipment condition monitoring and inspection techniques including, thermography, oil analysis and other proactive technologies to monitor electrical equipment health and manage equipment life. We are looking for someone who can lead failure investigations utilizing Cause Mapping or TapRooT techniques and establish corrective actions that address identified deficiencies across an equipment population. This individual must also value the importance of specifications, quality installation and repairs and be willing to lead change in these areas to achieve sustainable results. To be considered for this position, you must have: An engineering degree (an Electrical or Mechanical degree is preferred) At least five years experience within an ethanol, refining, petrochemical or other process environment. Knowledge and experience with safety shutdown systems, DCS, PLC's, instrument field devices, electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers and the factors that affect the reliability of this equipment are critical to this position. We need your strong verbal and written communication skills and your ability to work in a team environment.
Some overtime may be required, which might include nights, weekends and holidays during turnarounds and outages. The individual seeking the role must be able to travel to various regional facilities and to attend professional conferences.
