Job Summary The Senior Industry Consultant (IC) will leverage their high tech industry knowledge and data warehouse technical knowledge to promote sales of Teradata data warehouse solutions within Major Accounts in the high tech industry. The IC has broad knowledge of the data warehouse space and application within the industry. The IC articulates data warehouse architectures and trends, and provides technical knowledge in sales support activities. The IC establishes or enhances mid-level customer relationships, provides technical expertise on engagements and identifies new target application opportunities within our accounts. The IC will be expected to deliver high-quality, customer billable consulting on PS engagements and oversee the development of the customer engagement model for additional services. In addition, the IC plays an active role in pre-sale and post-sale activity, ensuring a long-term partnership with Teradata customers.
The position requires hands on work experience in the high tech field. The high tech industry includes semiconductor, consumer and enterprise electronic products and medical devices. The disciplines we are looking for include product, process, quality, and product engineering or supply chain. The candidate must have experience in the operations of these business functions and have engaged on IT projects that supported those disciplines. The ideal candidate is someone that has bridged the gap between IT and the operations and demonstrated success in solution development that improved the business objectives.
The candidate may be asked to cover many accounts in a presales role, developing solutions to support the sales cycle and when needed, devote focused and dedicated support to specific customers. Travel is with in the US only, unless a customer engagement requires international travel.
Key Responsibilities * Play lead role on large, complex data warehouse implementations, or possibly multiple smaller projects * Work with Account Executives (and account team) to generate new business * Understand and document clients' existing business processes, requirements, issues and match needs to Teradata business solutions * Facilitate the development of new strategies and business requirements to be enabled by data warehousing solutions * Architect a business solution in support of those strategies * Provide thought leadership and change management recommendations to clients * Stay abreast of industry issues and trends to identify target opportunities * Network with key industry contacts and clients * Direct other junior and senior business consultants supporting specific projects and during implementations * Research development responsibilities includes authoring white papers, speaking at trade shows/seminars, interfacing with analyst groups, and direction/input to Teradata research/development group on current and future applications.
Work Environment This position is working in a virtual office environment, including home office, customer site, hotels, and other sites. A combination of independent work and team collaboration will be required. A significant amount of travel (75%) is also expected within the USA and Canada depending on the location of the candidate.
Skills & AttributesA successful candidate should be driven, creative, a self-starter and strategic thinker. The candidate must possess the ability to lead, advise and advocate for customers. Creativity is a distinct advantage. Basic Qualifications * 10 years of senior management experience in thedesignatedsectors * Solving real world industry issues (operations, financial and/or marketing issues) * Bachelor Degree * A firm understanding of the business processes and metrics that drive success in the high tech industry * Ability to use industry experience to provide a consultative approach to business problems using highly developed written, conversational and presentation skills * Ability to discover, calculate and measure ROI (return on investment)
Preferred Qualifications * Business Consulting experience from a major consulting firm or leadership role with high tech company * Understanding of data warehousing principles and concepts * Understanding of business intelligence reporting tools * Master's Degree
