Job Description:
The Information Security Specialist will:
Participate in the creation and implementation of security architectures and secure application designs for information systems.
Assists application developers and support teams with secure application design, planning and integration.
Participate in security architecture reviews, provides secure application and infrastructure solutions, end-to-end.
Participate in the introduction of new security methods and technologies, including integration with existing technical architectures, frameworks, implementation planning, documentation of best practices, and templates.
Participate in the assessment of security threats and risks, recommends and assists in the delivery of solutions to mitigate risks. Educates project stakeholders in the need for and the use of security technology.
The Information Security Specialist must have:
Experience with all phases of a Systems Development Lifecycle methodology or UPS Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
Proficiency with MS-Windows, Linux, UNIX, working knowledge of z/OS and RACF.
Experience with Java or .NET development or other frameworks.
Knowledge of current security concepts, methods, best practices and technologies as applied to the enterprise environment, specifically including: • Information Classification • Network security protocols, methods and technologies • Application and Web Layer Security (Web 2.0, SOAP, SOA, Secure Messaging, Secure Protocols) o Continuity of operations planning and disaster recovery strategies and architectures • Identity Access Management and Access Control. • Knowledge of, and experience with regulatory and compliance information security frameworks, standards and best practices (NIST, ITIL, COBIT HIPAA, SOX, FIPS, GLBA, PCI-DSS, ISO 27000 series, etc.). • GIAC, GSEC, SSCP, CISSP or comparable certification preferred.

Education:
The desired Information Security Specialist will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/related discipline, technical training equivalent or the equivalent in education and work experience. 5-8+ years experience with state of the art development support software packages, proficiency in at least two higher level programming languages.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
No relatives who are employed by UPS or any of its subsidiaries.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/related discipline or the equivalent in education and work experience.
5-8+ years experience with state of the art development support software packages.
