Job Description
The Field Technician will provide field operation and/or support of WAN demarcation and customer premise equipment to include, but not be limited to SONET Terminal Multiplexors, CSU/DSU’s, KIV-19M’s, and associated patch panels and cabling. The Field Technician shall, under the direction of NOC personnel, perform advanced troubleshooting procedures to isolate equipment problems not detected by tactical diagnostics/documentation. The Field Technician will document field site activities and review field activity reports. The Field Technician will provide interpretation of technical documents, recognize customer requirements, and provide support to on-the-job training programs. The Field Technician will provide support to develop training on safety processes/procedures. The Field Technician will support program Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) functions including: Inventory control and audits, input to logistics Work Orders and material management database system, along with Packaging, Handling, Shipping & Transportation (PHS&T) functions as required. Field Technician will share recall responsibilities with other personnel requiring a 1 hour response time to be on site.
Required Skills
The Field Technician will possess a strong background in WAN and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) equipment preventative and reactive maintenance techniques and practices. Knowledgeable in equipment thatincludes, but is not limited to, Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) Terminal Multiplexors, CSU/DSU’s, KIV-19 family of crypto devices and COMSEC principles, associated test equipment, and associated structured cabling and patch panels. Further, must be knowledgeable with OC-n, T-1, Fractional T-1, and Ethernet circuits from a configuration and troubleshooting perspective. Additionally, experience within the telecommunications industry in a customer service environment is desired. Good verbal and written skills are desired to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers. Maintain DOD Secret level clearance and COMSEC certification, KIV-19 family of cryptographic device proficiency and support cryptographic equipment keying requirements. The Field Technician must be able to solve highly-complex technical problems and assist and advise others in resolving technical issues. Supplier personnel must be able to work under minimal direction. Candidate must be familiar with the KIV-19 family of cryptographic devices and possess a general understanding of COMSEC principles including, but not limited to, support of cryptographic equipment keying requirementsKnowledge of DoD Communications Network Architectures and Network Operations Center documentation and processes is highly desirable. Candidate must possess a Final DOD Secret clearance (Active DAY ONE) and a Security+ certification (Active DAY ONE).
