Job Responsibilities: Job Purpose: To support Strategy Consultants or lead in the development of IS strategies that align to company strategic objectives.
Job Requirements: * Specific business development requirements (e.g. areas such as the evolution of mobile solutions, the next stages of IS investment for the US businesses) * Enterprise wide requirements (e.g. the impact of ¿Software as a Service¿ on National Grid, the approach to Social Media tools for the organisation) * The evolution of the IS department and its services in response to changing business requirements and external IT market developments. * To contribute to the production of the annual cycle of products and associated refreshes e.g. IS Strategy Document to support business planning, IS overview material. * To support the initial stages of merger, acquisition or divestiture activities from an IS perspective. * To support or carry out specific analysis work requested by the IS Leadership Team. * To actively communicate the outputs from the Strategy department to increase the level of understand of strategic approaches both within IS, in the businesses and with our delivery partners. * To contribute to the advancement of the department¿s ¿strategy development¿ process and supporting material.
Depending on level of experience this job will require: * The leading of significant items of strategy work and engaging at senior levels in the organisation and/or * Supporting major items of strategy work and leading smaller elements of work.
Job Qualifications:
Job Qualifications: * Bachelors college degree required; Masters preferred * 5-10 years of experience * Relevant industry or capability certification(s) desirable * Experience in strategic thinking and strategy development, either in IS or the utility business. * Skilled in relationship management and value creation at all organizational levels including colleagues, senior leadership, vendors and other business stakeholders. * Strong communication capabilities particularly related to presentation and the articulation of strategic concepts to a non-technical or non-strategic audience * Demonstrable successes in facilitation and collaboration across multiple stakeholders.
Job Dimensions: Global span of activity but with primary focus on the US with influence over overall IS investment budget of c. £200m pa.
