NOC Tech The ISIS NOC Tech is an employee of the Internet Systems and Infrastructure Support Network Operations Center in Frontier's ISP division. Primary responsibility is 24 hour surveillance and support of Frontier's national data backbone. The role of the ISIS NOC Tech is ever expanding to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. It requires highly technical skills along with the ability to interact with customers, vendors, engineers, operations and all levels of management. As an ISIS NOC Tech you will: * Perform 24 hour network surveillance and alarm reporting utilizing network monitoring and surveillance software. In this role the ISIS NOC tech will document and analyze alarms, identify points of failure and see through to resolution any network failures working with or escalating to the appropriate department if needed * Utilize, manage and maintain network and performance monitoring tools to ensure network reliability (Airwave, SNMPc, Solarwinds, Nagios, NavisCore, next-gen) * Utilize element management systems (EMS) to monitor and manage the DSLAM network (Adtran, Alcatel, Calix, next-gen) * Interface daily with our Internet Help Desk technicians and Leads and assist with BDSL, Metro Ethernet, Managed Router, WiFi, e-mail, DNS escalations, and outage investigations. In this role, the ISIS NOC tech will be responsible for collecting, documenting, and analyzing customer trouble reports, NPA-NXX, POP and BRAS locations to isolate and resolve customer facing outages * Take escalations from our Commercial NOC and respond to business customer escalations. In this role, the ISIS NOC Tech will be responsible for troubleshooting network routers and switches and ATM switches to isolate the trouble and take appropriate action to resolve * Work with our Johnstown NOC and respond to escalations. In this role, the ISIS NOC Tech will be responsible for troubleshooting network routers and switches and ATM switches to isolate the trouble and take appropriate action to resolve. * Work with field technicians and local management to assist in the resolution of equipment or network level outages * Provide and manage internal communication of Major Service Interruption (MSI) outages for all of Frontier ISP network equipment and services * Provide and manage internal communication of High Risk (HR) maintenance activity affecting Frontier ISP equipment and services by ISIS System Services, ISIS IP Networks, ISIS Data Support, Voice Planning, Traffic Engineering and Core Engineering * Escalate to Tier 2 support (ISIS System Services, ISIS IP Networks, ISIS Data Support) as required for service specific network or equipment issues * Facilitate escalation to Tier 3 support (Core Engineering, Voice Planning, WiFi Engineering) as required for service specific network or equipment issues * Create, update, and validate core, regional and customer network maps and diagrams as needed * Provision daily IP address assignments, allocate and provision IP assignments for RTO's, allocate and provision IP assignments for FrontierNet * Perform DNS administration, update and record IP assignments in public DNS, process Internet DNS requests, process customer domain and DNS requests Requirements: * 2 years of network monitoring or administration experience * 2 year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in related field * Previous help desk experience a plus * Customer service experience with strong customer service skills * Great communication skills, both oral and written * Must be able to work flexible hours * Must be able to work in a team environment or independently * Self starter - someone who takes the initiative * Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time * Shift work, overtime, weekends, holidays and call outs are required * Cisco experience a BIG plus (CCNA/CCNP preferred) * Juniper experience a BIG plus (JNCIA/JNCIS preferred) * Experience with DSLAM's (Alcatel, Adtran, Calix) a plus * Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems * Experience with major Internet protocols, such as DNS, LDAP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, DHCP HTTP/HTTPS, RADIUS * Experience with scripting and/or programming languages a plus (Unix shell, Python, PHP, Perl) Job Location ROCHESTER, NY, US.
