Description
This position gathers and analyzes user needs for developing and modifying clinical or business applications in the healthcare environment; leads documentation, writing specifications, fact-finding, analyzing results, proposing solutions and/or recommendations, in addition to building, configuring and/or modifying applications using existing application tools.
Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) best practices
- Understanding of the various levels of systems architecture (hardware, operating systems, services, and software applications)
- High level of proficiency in ability to problem-solve, to include assessing user needs and determining appropriate systems applications or requirements. Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issue.
- Consults with user departments to determine analytical needs, objectives, functions, and I/O requirements. Design, develop, test, install, and maintain BI reporting solutions (dashboards, scorecards, OLAP) , metadata models and objects accessing Oracle, Cache and SQL Server databases.
- Understanding of relational structures, dimensional data modeling, Structured Query Language (SQL) skills, Data Warehouse and reporting techniques.
- Understanding of information security technologies and best practices; experience on BI Security Administration with exposure to setting up groups with security filters and database connections.
- Elicit input from the user community in support of current and anticipated reporting requirements. Work with functional entities on specific projects seeking to automate and improve workflow processes system-wide. Recommends ways for the stakeholders to maximize the value of current functionality and make recommendations for changes or enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or equivalent experience is required. Masters in related field preferred.
- Seven years progressively responsible experience in information systems, including five years programming or systems analysis, or equivalent related experience is required. Previous experience in leading a project and/or team preferred.
- Seven years progressively responsible experience in information systems, including five years hands-on experience with Business Intelligence as an Architect and developer. Preferred detailed understanding of Cognos tool suite components ReportStudio, Framework Manager/Cognos 8 on Windows as both a metadata Modeler and Report Developer.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary to advise and consult with user personnel and make formal presentations of project findings and recommendations.
- Ability to obtain, analyze and synthesize information as well as multi-task under pressure
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
