Title: IT Developer/Engineer III Location: Maryland - Baltimore UNIX Senior Systems Programmer The candidate will work closely with the Infrastructure Support Team (IST) which provides 24x7 support to ensure the availability and stability of the systems, processes, programs and equipment used in processing SSA batch workloads. This position will support the CONTROL-M and Enterprise Management Distributive Tool Suite on a UNIX/WINDOWS platform and give technical expertise for the client server automated scheduling infrastructure. This support includes the development, documentation and implementation of utilities which are required to maintain and monitor client server and mainframe batch schedules. Duties will include, but not be limited to the following tasks: UNIX and Windows Server Maintenance · Install and test CONTROL-M and Enterprise Management software upgrades. · Install and test hardware/software upgrades and patches. · Install and test IBM AIX software upgrades and patches. · Install and test CONTROL-M agents on remote servers. · Enforce and monitor security compliance. · Monitor server performance and maintain system stability and security. · Trouble shoot and correct server CONTROL-M and Enterprise Management infrastructure problems. · Plan and test system disaster recovery procedures.
Software Development and Implementation · Develop and implement scripts, monitoring utilities required to provide early problem detection, and automated reports. Scripting shall be completed in any commonly used scripting language as SHELL, PERL, and SQL. All other programming should be completed in either C or Visual Basic. · Document software design, user guide and applicable installation requirements. · Identify tools that can be used to automate manual processes: design, develop, document and implement the identified tools. · Create ad hoc and recurring statistical reports. Server Account Management · Manage server resources. · Add new users. · Suspend/delete users. · Maintain, define and document UNIX and CONTROL-M and Enterprise Management Permissions.
The contractor will be required to carry a pager at all times, and respond to all pages 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and 365days per year. Travel may be required several times per year for approximately on week per trip. Support may be required during SSA's Disaster Recovery efforts at the second data center in North Carolina, or other SSA locations. Education and Experience Required: Typically a technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 4 years related experience or a Master's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience.
