About the Opportunity Great Plains Communications is seeking an experienced Field Technician/IT Professional who supports PC and network technology; establishes, maintains, and optimizes systems performance; and installs and maintains local area networks.
Duties: • Investigate user problems, identify source, determine and implement solutions.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, windows environments, networks, other related equipment, devices and systems
• Troubleshoot networks, systems and applications.
• Assist in Help Desk calls providing Level II support.
• Assist in all other system and network environments as needed.
• Detailed records of services performed and provided at customer site
• Staying current with industry trends through research and continuing education
• Duties as assigned
Qualifications: Advanced PC and Desktop Knowledge
Intermediate LAN knowledge, including Ethernet, hubs, switches, TCP/IP, and network configuration.
Experience in hardware provisioning, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Expert knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, servers, workstations, operating systems, and applications.
Extensive experience troubleshooting network clients and servers.
Expert problem-solver. Sorts through complex issues and conducts comparative analysis of multiple solutions.
Excellent ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non-technical.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP.
Consummate people skills. Demonstrates talent at interacting effectively with all types of people.
Extensive working knowledge of operating systems and platforms to include LANs, software and hardware, programming techniques and database technologies.
Installation and maintenance of hardware, software, firmware, and all related systems involving network connectivity, including some or all of the following-LAN switches: managed and non-managed hubs, network interface cards, multi-protocol switches, and routers.
Extensive experience in system administration, including system maintenance, workstation support, Internet connectivity, security services, load monitoring, and back-up procedures.
Prompt attendance and can be trusted to handle a high level of responsibility.
Can define own role, take on responsibilities, and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
Experienced with supporting end users with hands on at client level to business and corporate accounts. 5+ years preferable.
