IT Programmer / Analyst
What’s involved?
Reporting to the Manager, Mainframe Application, the IT Programmer/Analyst participates as a team member on the analysis for conversion from present procedures to new computer systems. This role will be carrying out general systems design and analysis activities. Other major duties include the maintenance of systems, specific tasks related to operating systems, online, database and communications. This position will require occasional travel between Toronto and other Canadian locations.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Work as a member of project teams -Analyze and document any user requirement from the business point of view and support the analysis of the requirement before offering a new system solution -Investigate users' requests as to the current process -Develop solutions to be presented to users for approval -Investigate how the existing application system is handling the current process and suggest possible solutions either through system change or by changing current process at user site -Design report format and execute program to provide the report requested by users -Create data files and provide export capability to any IT Media -Maintain & Develop application systems both in Front End & back End -Manage & Schedule jobs within applications -Liaison with users during IT Request or Projects -Other duties to support System Admin. Group -Overnight shift support or standby support on holidays via laptop and/or cell phone.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED:
-University/College degree in Computer Technology or Sciences -Minimum of 1-2 years experience with IBM AS400 iSeries computer -Minimum of 1-2 years experience with RPG III, RPGIV, RPGLE, CLLE, CL , SQL, SQLR, Query 400 -Minimum of 2-3 years experience with Java, HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Domino -Excellent project management, customer service, people communications, and analytical skills
