The SAP DBA will be instrumental in implementing and then maintaining the technical underpinnings of a planned, global-wide SAP adoption and establishing a stable, robust, ongoing SAP environment. This position requires deep technical expertise in the specifics of DB2 for an SAP environment (setup, usage, applicability, maintenance, updates, etc.), and will undertake the daily DBMS and database support for the SAP s is a hands-on role in working with and assisting in the successful planning for, setup, configuration, and fielding of SAP. Duties & Responsibilities:Undertake a technical role in the planning for and the adoption of DB2 and other associated data and database aspects for a major SAP implementation. Serve as a daily DBA to administrator and support DB2 for the SAP environment. Perform daily needed maintenance. Provide support. Troubleshoot issues. Research issues and make use of affiliated technical resources. Keep up-to-date on SAP environment changes and future upgrades. Plan for and participate in updates and upgrades. Work with IT specialists, developers, analysts, Subject Matter Experts (SME*s), end users, and other resources to ensure that they are aware of the capabilities of the DB2 and SAP, and correspondingly adopt DB2 appropriately to meet technical and business needs. Perform in an individual contributor role, doing hands-on work to undertake the implementation and ongoing maintenance of DB2 for SAP, including aspects such as installation and upgrades associated with the SAP environment, perform daily Incident Management, perform daily Problem Management, be *on call* for troubleshooting issues, aid Application Specialists in database activities, tune the database for performance, establish and ensure proper backup and archiving, perform exports and imports, and undertake other such administration. Assist in the preparation of a set of policies and procedures regarding the use of DB2 and SAP. Ensure proper compliance of the SAP environment to industry best practices and norms. Experience, Competencies, Skills, and Job Experiences:Bachelor*s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. 5 + years technical expertise in DB2, including extensive experience in the latest version of DB2. 5 to 8 years of overall IT work experience, with at least 5 years of experience in a large-scale global SAP environment. Certifications and/or advanced training in SAP, particularly in SAP supported by DB2 and affiliated SAP elements. Certifications and/or advanced training in DB2, must be highly proficient in all technical aspects of database administration. Expertise in the techniques, tips, tricks involving the setup and use of DB2. Experience in using other DBMS*s such as SQL Server, Oracle, etc. Practiced in utilizing DBMS*s to support Applications development and maintenance, Business Intelligence uses, and the like. Experience working in a large-scale, global SAP environment, and experience with a pre-configured SAP solution is a plus.
