IT Support Specialist Category: Information Technology Type: Full Time Description:
The IT Support Specialist will be responsible forproviding efficient, strong customer support. The role also involves communicating directly with clients, investigating problems on their systems, and working closely with other members of the IT department. The successful candidate will possess strong problem diagnosis and problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. You should also be enthusiastic, willing to learn and to contribute to the team.
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following.
· Acts as primary contact for complex issue escalation from Support Desk technicians, using discretion and independent judgment in determining appropriate action for resolution. Serves as backup in IT Support Manager’s absence.
· Serves a project lead for special projects assigned to the Support Desk team.
· Provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
· Keeps clients informed of the progress of outstanding incidents including maintaining written communication, i.e., incident updates, to professional standards.
· Provides a personalized, high quality service to clients, including on-site visits to centers.
· Monitors, solves, and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing hardware and software testing tools and techniques.
· Configures, installs, updates, troubleshoots, repairs and replaces computer systems, terminals, peripheral equipment and related hardware throughout the organization.
· Analyzes and performs applications testing of new releases/updates for POS Applications area.
· Licenses, loads, maintain updates and troubleshoot software and peripherals; verifies correct operations of software packages.
· Provides training for Support Desk technicians.
· Performs LAN/hard disk backups.
· Interacts with vendor support groups.
· Ability to work extended workdays, weekends and holidays to support business needs.
· Other duties may be assigned.
IT SupportSpecialists possess a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity, respect for all individuals (customers, vendors, and employees), solid communication skills, strong critical and analytical thinking skills, and appreciation of diversity (thought, ethnic, gender, etc.).
IT SupportSpecialists must be strong team players and people developers, with strong problem diagnosis and problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Requirements:
High school diploma with at least three to five years proven experience and/or relevant experience and understanding of Helpdesk functions. General knowledge of IT structures and services, andshould include a thorough knowledge of Windows NT/2000/2003/XP operating systems, knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP) and experience with PC peripherals. Experience with POS applications is required. Relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.
