Job Description: Skills Required ? Skilled and proficient in basic system administration tasks like Patch mgmt, File systems, Firmware tasks, Crash Dump Configuration, Syslog etc. ? Skilled and proficient in configuring and administering network services and protocols (i.e. NFS, NIS, DNS, Jumpstart, FTP,SSH, telnet) ? Experience with HP-XP, EMC, IBM storage arrays or SUN StorEdge product line. ? Experience on System Performance Management and Tuning ? Experience on Security Hardening and exposure to SUN or third party security tools. ? Strong Knowledge on SUN Server Hardware and architecture. ? Performance analysis, Security analysis, Patch analysis and installation, System upgrade ? scripts skills such as Posix Shell, ksh, awk and Perl familiar with the ITSM/ITIL model (key process: Incident, Problem, Change Management, Configuration Management, requirements, etc ? Ability to communicate technical contents plainly and simply ? Independent problem solver ? Experience with large UNIX HA environments, involved in administration and support ? Perform daily UNIX administration tasks: users and groups administration, storage configuration, network and printer configuration, troubleshooting, software and patch installation, system performance and load balancing analysis.
Job Roles and Responsibilities o Apply technical knowledge to operate a technology area (e.g. server administration, technical security management, performance management) or customer group with moderate risk/complexity. Integrate technical knowledge and business understanding to create superior solutions for HP and for customers. o Incident Management: Resolve most technical incidents independently within your technical area. Work with team members to resolve more complex or cross-technology incidents. o Escalation Management: identify potential escalations and alert management proactively. o Problem Management: Begin to proactively and reactively provide solutions to prevent problems from occurring in area of responsibility. o Change Management/Implementation: Independently review, implement, and verify changes/solutions of moderate complexity and risk to meet customer and/or trade/HP Information Technology (HPIT) infrastructure needs within area(s) of technical responsibility.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience. May hold entry-level or intermediate-level certification(s) in work field. Typically 5 plus years of relevant experience in solaris with good experience in Clustering, Virtualization and diaster recovery knowledge.
