PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:As a Portal Architect, you will be involved in the design and development of cutting edge Web applications, defining system architecture to achieve scalability and reliability goals, and research new technologies for our evolving editorial and business systems. The successful candidate will concentrate on understanding and communicating the technical capabilities and potential of the various software and hardware platforms used in FindLaw solutions. This position will interface extensively with counterparts in the corporate technology group to identify emerging technologies and evaluate their value and impact on FindLaw, as well as advising peers of all findings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Define system architecture to achieve scalability and reliability goals* Research new technologies for the editorial and business systems* Understand and communicate the technical capabilities and potential of the various software and hardware platforms used in FindLaw solutions QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE and SKILLSKnowledge, Skills & Experience RequirementsMinimum Qualifications* Bachelor*s degree in Computer Science or related; and advanced degree is desirable* 12 + years of relevant industry experience* 3+ years in an architect roleExperience* 5+ years Java based projects using Java, JSP and related technologies (Tomcat or similar applications server) with an Oracle RDBMS back end* 5+ years developing and deploying applications on Linux/Unix systems* Hands on experience with databases, XML databases and publishing systems* Hands on experience with using dynamic languages * Perl, PHP, Python in web-based applications* Experience with one or more Portal capabilities such as Security, Personalization, Internationalization, Categorization, Taxonomy, collaboration, and PublishingExperience with one or more Portal and ECM platforms: Plumtree, Vignette, Documentum, FileNet, Hummingbird, Open Text, iManage, eiStream, Captiva, Vignette,Drupal, Joomla!, HippoCMS, ImpressCMSKnowledge* Advanced understanding of object-oriented programming languages* Thorough understanding of application development and methodologiesSkills* XML-based content systems* Performance tuning for web - based applications Component and framework specification and design* Web-services-especially REST architectural a style* Application and web servers such as Tomcat and NetKernel* Fault-tolerant messaging such as Sonic ESB enterprise service bus* Web technologies, protocols, and tools* Rich Internet Applications (RIA) frameworks These are full time opportunities for full-time employees.
