Java Developer (Java and Oracle DB) Our Client is looking for a highly-experienced Java/J2EE and Oracle database developer with extensive hands-on experience designing and developing enterprise web applications and complex data models. In additional to expert Java and Oracle database skills, a successful candidate should be able to communicate extensively with our business clients and work closely with other technical teams. The Lead Database Developer will also be a primary contributor to the software and database architecture of new applications being built. The software application landscape within our client spans many technologies, so a successful candidate should have exposure to various technologies, including Java EE frameworks (Struts, Spring, or Hibernate); databases technologies including Oracle DB2, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and query performance tuning; and hands-on experience with ETL tools. In addition to vast technical experience, the candidate must have polished communication skills with the capability of presenting in front both technical and non-technical audiences. This position is located at our offices in Old Town Pasadena, CA.
Basic / Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience along with 8+ years of work experience • 5+ years experience as a Java/J2EE developer or architect with recent hands-on experience in object oriented design and development. • 5+ years experience with Servlets and JDBC • 2+ years experience with administering Oracle databases • 5+ years writing SQL • 5+ years experience with Oracle stored procedures • 1+ years experience with the Hibernate framework • Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications: • Working knowledge of ETL tools highly desired • Java certifications highly desired • 3+ years experience working in IBM WebSphere environment • 2+ years developing within an IDE like Eclipse or RAD highly preferred • Oracle certifications a plus • 2+ years experience with other databases including DB2 or MySQL • Expert knowledge creating Oracle schemas, tables, views, DB links, and indexes • Expert knowledge in database performance tuning • Knowledge with database profiling tools to monitory performance and bottlenecks, and to identify table locking or deadlock conditions • Ability to understand complex data models • Ability to create ER diagrams • Previous experience designing, creating and maintaining a data warehouse • Knowledge of importing and exporting large data sets across separate databases • Healthcare industry experience • Customer service attitude and able to work well within a cross-functional team
