Job Responsibilities:
As a Lead Analyst you will be responsible for partnering with key groups within the business unit management team to develop key financial targets¿ including the business plan, budget and forecasts ¿ and to analyze data and activities to provide relevant and up-to-date information to support decision making. Work with the business and finance network to design and implement processes and policies to improve the quality of the business. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a highly matrixed, complex working environment. * Establish and agree financial budgets, plans and forecasts in order to optimize business performance in line with set objectives. * Use detailed financial analysis to make informed, authoritative financial analysis recommendations in order to enable decision making and improve business performance in the medium and longer term for business partner. * Analyze key themes from a wide range of data sources in order to identify how different scenarios may impact business decisions. * Develop solid working relationships with peers in order to absorb and apply professional best practices within the functional decision support area. * Contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives specific to the functional areas supported, in order to drive change and innovation within National Grid. * Review and challenge existing policies and processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and drive best value for the business. * Prepare, plan and monitor detailed O&M budgets and forecasts in order to ensure financial targets are met. * Provide financial support to rate case filings and requests for ad-hoc information. * Develop processes and efficiencies to improve communication and reporting of performance against financial targets.
Job Qualifications: * Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting and * Minimum 5 years of related finance/accounting/business partner work experience. Advance degree or certification preferred. * Strong communication and presentation skills to impact decision leaders in business operations and finance. * Able to interpret, communicate and apply policies and practices. * Ability to understand and focus on key business drivers. * Knowledge of relevant industry practice and regulation. * Proficient in financial software and systems with recent SAP experience a plus and advanced expertise in Microsoft Office products a requirement. Peoplesoft experience is a plus but not required. * ERP system implementation experience is a plus (particularly SAP)
