Lead Business Systems Analyst - MBE

Job Summary

The Lead Business Systems Analyst is responsible for proactively identifying technology opportunities that impact corporate business strategies and performance. The Lead Business Systems Analyst will work on special projects by collaborating with top-level management on IT investment decisions. This individual will educate project team members on business unit goals and objectives, and the value of information technology. Lastly, this position is responsible translate between technical and business language and negotiate requirements across multiple groups.

Other Duties

  • Works with business partners across multiple business functions to align technology solutions with business strategies.
  • Supports one or more highly complex business processes, requiring design or integration of technical solutions that may cross multiple functions of the business.
  • Has direct reports and schedules work. Provides coaching and guidance to direct reports.
  • Provides process improvement recommendations, and may provide input to cost/time estimates.
  • Leads project team members through the process of developing and maintaining requirements from analysis to deployment.
  • Participates in short- and long-term development planning sessions with clients to improve business processes. Generally involves using and improving information systems. Documents discussion and agreements.
  • Assesses client needs utilizing a structured process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to translate business requirements and recommend options, risks and cost vs. benefits.
  • Analyze business processes to derive, develop and document requirements.
  • Possess creative problem solving skills for refinement of business processes and requirements.
  • Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements for the design and implementation of business solutions.
  • Responsible for the collection, analysis, design and documentation of functional requirements.
  • Strong understanding of change control for requirement artifacts.
  • Works with business clients and technology management to prioritize delivery of business and functional requirements.
  • Works with developers and quality assurance team to ensure that functional requirements are implemented completely and appropriately and meet test plans and procedures.
  • Coordinates feasibility studies and proposals for evaluation by appropriate users and managers.
  • Coordinates and facilitates work sessions with business partners and appropriate IT groups.
  • Participates in technical design, testing and architecture work sessions.
  • Supervisory duties include: training, coaching on systems analysis principles and general IT procedures setting and monitoring progress towards goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Conducts research, identifies broad information gaps and key data sources; reviews resources (e.g., newsletters, annual reports, periodicals, websites, budgets), and attends events like meetings or conferences to informally gather information; conducts pre-defined, established research tasks with guidance, such as interviews, surveys, web searches, and/or focus groups.
  • Deploys/implements technology, modifies or adjusts logistics, schedule, rollout plans, or support material, with some assistance; identifies and communicates routine implementation issues and plans; uses existing plans to implement technology solutions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to successfully manage and implement moderately complex projects (e.g., duration of 12 months or less, single geography, single business unit); directs the implementation of multiple projects simultaneously; ensures that stakeholders and implementation teams clearly understand the plan, schedule, objectives, metrics, roles and responsibilities; manages project scope throughout project lifecycle to ensure that resources remain focused and objectives are achieved; identifies root causes of implementation issues; mobilizes course correction efforts as required; executes risk management plan when appropriate (e.g., mitigation, avoidance); conducts formal project closeout review; documents lessons learned and utilizes for future projects; skilled in the use of project management tools and technology.
  • Measures/evaluates performance and results, identifies the key indicators of performance for individuals, departments, and/or groups; creates measures and determines the desired results; recommends methods for measurement (surveys, observation, recordkeeping, etc.) and a measurement plan; sets meaningful goals for individuals, departments, and/or groups; conducts routine individual performance assessments and outlines potential implications of performance shortcomings.
  • Writes technical documents, uses the appropriate style, level of detail, grammar, and organization of thought in technical writing; drafts standard specialized or technical documents using templates, coaches’ advice, and job aids.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be currently in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate yourself there.
  • Must have relevant technical and business work experience in systems analysis or application programming development.
  • Must have an understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies.
  • Must have experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions.
  • Must have experience supervising employees.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/MIS is preferred.
