Role Summary/Purpose The Lead Systems Engineer within the Aviation Computing Systems group is responsible for design and development of aircraft avionics products, including computing platforms for aviation products and Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) solutions.
Essential Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

* Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

* Define system product requirements at multiple levels of hierarchy

* Work with customer, customer specifications, industry specifications, and systems integration group to understand and document requirements.

* Execute hands-on configuration and testing of system components to demonstrate successful integration

* Perform computing platform system integration and verification & validation activities

* Create and implement effective procedures for version control of systems configuration and database management

* Prepare and maintain supporting work plans for presentation to team leaders, functional supports and external organizations

* Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

* Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

* Document and assure technical data generated by the assigned project ia consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college

* A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer

* Experience with embedded systems design and development, including requirements definition

Desired Characteristics
* Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Electrical, or Software Engineering

* Prior experience in systems engineering, embedded software engineering, electronics design or control systems

* Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

* Knowledge of requirements management, concept of operations, and interface control documents

* Knowledge of developing testing requirements for system validation

* Strong PC skills including basic programming skills

* Ability to organize, prioritize, and achieve milestones and deliverables

* Solid oral and written communication skills

* Strong project management skills

* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* Experience with SYSML or UML modeling tools and methods.

* Proficient with DOORS.

* Six Sigma training is preferred
