Position Description/Responsibilities:
CAI has an immediate need for a Lead Business Analyst to work on a long term project engagement in Washington, DC Goals and Responsibilities
* The BA role is to understand the needs of the business users and translate these into specific project artifacts and deliverables that will be used by the client group to execute the IT work program. Their role is to capture client business needs and to document what is needed to meet those needs from an IT perspective.
* Supervision and project management on all aspects of the project, including any components which are outsourced via a managed or staff-augmentation service arrangement
* The management of expectations is critical in this interface role.
* The Lead BA/Project Manager will typically work under the direction of a Project Management Officer in the early (concept and charter) stages of an IT project. The BA may be required to continue working on a project as it progresses through requirements definition, design, development and/or testing.
* Develop strong familiarity with the client group system development methodology and client applications, processes and data.
* Perform detailed project management of the AMC project – including liaison with users, external financial service providers and IT vendors who may be engaged to deliver/implement the design.
* Monitor program milestones and critical dates to identify potential jeopardy of project schedule. Identify ways to resolve schedule issues. Identify risks and issues; establish mitigation plan to facilitate their resolution.
* Ensure completion of all project activities within the client group – including interaction with other institutional program managers to coordinate delivery schedules, enterprise architecture, IV&V, information security and IT standards
* Analyze and document client business processes and existing/proposed functionality of assigned system/project using the Rational toolset and specific artifacts (e.g., use case diagrams, use case specifications, class diagrams, activity diagrams, state transition diagrams, sequence diagrams).
* Conduct/attend requirements definition meetings with end users and document system requirements.
* Prepare Proof of Concept (PoC) and Prototypes in conjunction with system architects.
* Analyze user requirements and assess process impact.
* Create as-is and to-be process models using the Rational tool set or other standard process modeling tools, to represent business processes for the area under analysis.
* Capitalize on the experience gained from the analysis of the assigned systems’ processes to assist the core process modeling team in integrating the system and process model changes into client’s corporate process models and appropriate Operational Procedures.
* Contribute to the development of a body of generally applicable methods, procedures and deliverables for the business modeling function.
* Coach or mentor less experienced is an EOE.

Position Requirements/Technical Skills:
Required:

* Min. 10 years of direct experience in business analysis and data and process modeling techniques. Experience with the Rational Unified Process (data flow diagrams, activity hierarchy diagrams, use case diagrams, activity diagrams, data models) is highly desired. Experience with at least one standard methodology is required.
* 8+ years of management experience on highly complex or enterprise wide IT projects.
* Experience with projects in multiple technologies and platforms.
* Experience in project monitoring and control of outsourced application delivery projects in the context of an offshore managed service model
* Experience in budget processes, planning, implementation and monitoring
* Experience with IT projects in the financial industry
* Thorough understanding of investment processing related to equity, private equity and loan operations
* Minimum 6 years experience in investment operations – trade decision and capture, valuation, accounting, cash management, reporting, settlement and custodian interfaces
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills
* Effective listening: ability to clearly document the real need not merely what the business wants.
* Influencing: Ability to lead the business to a solution that will meet their true needs.
* Empathy: Ability to see the solution in the eyes of the customer.
* Personality smart: Ability to understand the client’s personal style and match with equal style that is not threatening (e.g., to a detailed style: provide detail, to a conceptual thinker: keep it high level).
* Ability to lead: To show leadership with clients and be their voice in CBI and to then lead the delivery for the client.
* Efficiency and discipline: Able to work on multiple tasks at the same time, excellent planning and coordination ability.
* Excellent writing/documentation skills.
* Outstanding analytical skills.
* Ability to quickly gain an understanding of system/business processes and interact with mid-level business users to extract business process details.
Desired:
* Accounting concepts and financial reporting; familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS is a plus.
* Treasury operations – front, middle and back office
* Capital markets, including understanding of financial products such as loans, equities, derivatives, etc.
* Risk management: operational, credit, market
* Loan/investment processing
* Portfolio management
* Knowledge of data warehousing, data structures and ETL tools
* Practical experience with Business Intelligence techniques, reporting and analysis
