Microsoft's adCenter Ad Platform team is leading and revolutionizing the digital advertising landscape through the creation of a scalable and flexible display advertisement platform and we are hiring software engineering talent for our Redmond-based team that will help us lead the way to a richer and more meaningful advertiser and client experience.

This position will be focused on driving the technical and creative vision and implementation of Advertising Products and the mechanisms for rendering these on a variety of devices. This is all about creating the breed of advertisement products and experiences for Publisher, Advertisers and end consumers. This position will be working with external customers and internal Microsoft groups like Xbox, Windows Mobile, Bing, and MSN.
The technical problem is very complex; balancing server-side performance with end user experience and advertiser expectations is hard. Add to this mix the complexity of multiple devices and multiple browser and multiple technologies this problem is among the most challenging in the advertising space. Having broad vision and deep understanding of technology will be what gives you success in this position.
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineering Lead, with great technical and interpersonal skills. The person will lead a team of 4-8 experienced developers through design, coding, and releasing these adProducts in an agile and responsive way.
Technical skills must include HTML, XML/XSL, JavaScript, AJAX,C#, and web services. Experience with Windows Services, Networking, SQL, and XML or multimedia will be pluses. You will be managing this team of developers as they grow their careers at Microsoft and as we build a team to lead the advertising industry into the future. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of development experience and 2-5 years of management experience at the project, program, or department level. As a SDE lead, you may be responsible for a collection of feature areas, a highly complex feature area, component forming a small subsystem, or a simple product. Additionally, you are expected to influence all disciplines supporting the product within a division. A software development lead is a leader within his or her own feature team. This leadership comes both from team leadership and an understanding of a specific technical area and an ability to convey that understanding through project management and contributions to product strategy.
The SDE Lead may also be asked to do any or all of the following: Defines the schedule commitments for the team Delivers feature areas on time against milestones Develops effective metrics for the feature areas Justifies resource requests and operates within budgeted resources Improves the team's engineering system Removes obstacles and keeps projects moving forward on schedule Assumes responsibility for team leadership Aligns team commitments to product and business strategy and proactively communicates disconnects Takes responsibility for his/her decisions despite impacts or reactions of the team Ensures team understands its connection to customer/partner value Uses customer feedback and user experience data to clarify team priorities Ensures deliverables are compatible with those of other teams Breaks down of barriers across disciplines for better decision-making Ensures effective participation and full utilization of resources across feature teams Clearly defines the roles and areas of ownership of the team Leads recruiting processes for the team Provides regular feedback and proactively manages poor performance Conducts effective performance reviews of all team members Identifies and develops high performers Coaches and motivates individuals
