Job Description: Participate (in a senior/ lead role) on a team of engineers involved in escalation support/development of software for Cisco Nexus 7000 and Cisco Catalyst 6500 switches. Requires strong background in switching, implementation, customer interfacing, and troubleshooting. Significantly influences usability, interoperability, and quality of the 6k/7k product lines. Work with BU/CAP/manufacturing/ to resolve sw, hw, and design issues.
Define new software product features. Champion new, improved design methodologies. Define Reliability, Availability, Servicability (RAS) goals for products.

Ability to apply extensive experience as a networking specialist. Requires in depth knowledge of at least one of the platforms in hardware and software architecture and features. Requires ability to quickly learn new features from functional specs, design production networks to incorporate new features and hardware while maintaining high availability of the network, troubleshoot new features and hardware, and provide feedback to development teams on improvements prior to FCS. Requires ability to interface with critial account customers and to troubleshoot network down situations with confidence. Superior bug finding and testing skills. Ability to solve system wide problems. Initiates informal reviews of ideas and technical objectives within and across business units. Encourages and accepts personal feedback.
Mentors junior team members. Provides technical guidance to teams.
Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience.
