Role: Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (Test Lead) As a Test Lead, you will lead a test team who is the final word in determining whether our components are ready for delivery to customers. The robust test automation your team will buildusing C#, C++ amongst other languageswill be the key deliverable that helps us assess quality of our components. You will also work closely with your peers in Program Management (PM) and Development towards building the next great releases of Windows and Visual Studio.
Deep systems knowledge and the desire to continually improve the environment around you are characteristics that will help you build a strong long-term career at Microsoft. Cross-group collaboration skills are also vital as we have two key partners in the Microsoft Office and IE (Internet Explorer) teams.
Responsibilities: Lead a team who writes lots of C# and C++ code that leverages the Win32 and the .NET framework. Work with other SDETs to build robust test automation that helps quantify functional, stress, performance, security, etc. quality of the Windows OS and the Visual Studio development platform. Train and mentor other team members. Interact with customers on the XML and .NET Framework forum.
Qualifications: BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline. At least 6 years of professional test automation development for a commercial enterprise product. E.g. Operating System, Database or equivalent. Proven track record in managing and growing highly technical teams. Current proficiency in key object-oriented programming languages: C/C++, C# and/or Java. Superb oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines to achieve success. English proficiency.
The following qualifications are preferred (but not required): Experience with XML technologies and API design. Experience with the .NET Framework, COM and distributed systems. Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin).
