Mainframe Systems Programmer, Lead Software Specialist
Major Retail Company committed to building relationships with our vendors and our customers is seeking a Mainframe Systems Programmer. Candidate will play a critical role in the support and systems integration for the mainframe infrastructure and vendor supplied software. Work closely with team members to assure successful software implementations and continued effective use of installed computer resources. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing technical support and aid in problem identification and resolution.
Major Responsibilities:
Plan, support and manage the installation and implementation of vendor supplied software products.
Perform systems programming activities and coordinate project resources required to meet software maintenance and installation schedules.
Communicate effectively with technical associates, development staffs and end users throughout the organization.
Plan, organize, coordinate and manage complex technical projects, as well as providing strategy and leadership.
Develops, manages and prepares project plans to monitor project implementation progress and schedules.
Analyzes technical system changes and enhancements to system software in determining impact on existing systems to insure continued operations and availability of systems.
Provide technical expertise, training and coaching as needed.
Strong Debugging and Problem Resolution Skills.
Minimum 10 years experience as z/OS Systems Programmer.
Minimum 10 years experience with the internals of all MVS components.
Minimum 10 years experience with Install, Customization, Testing and Maintenance of z/OS.
Minimum 10 years experience with HCD and HMC.
Experienced in Assembler Language.
Experience with Back Up and Disaster Recovery.
Experience with Capacity Planning, Trending and Utilization, System Monitoring, Tuning and Performance.
Attention to detail; strong written, verbal, interpersonal and analytical skills.
Must be a team player and have the ability to work independently.
Other key skills include strategic thinking, project planning, project management and coaching ability.
Looking for a highly skilled technical individual who meets all of the following required key skills: z/OS (all of the components of the operating system), Unix System Services, CICS, IMS, DB2, MQ Series, InfoPrint Server, eCommunications Server.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
