Job Description
Summary:
Plan and set direction for Baxter's Smart Medical Device IT team. Establish the core architecture and services required to support device connectivity, information processing, and use of device data intelligence across the enterprise. Serve as the IT point contact for cross-functional Product Development Teams. Provide direct supervision of the Smart Device IT Team including mentoring, performance management, and staffing decisions. Manage the architecture and design of the overall development, testing, and production environments. Jointly develop business operations approach for the deployment, support, and servicing of the Smart Device environment. Assure strategic and tactical plans are met. Responsible for budget commitments and forecast.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage internal/external application and infrastructure teams in the delivery of services in support of Baxter's Smart Device initiatives. Demonstrate solid technical knowledge (in particular in Web/Portal application frameworks), demonstrate strong business knowledge (experience in establishing sustainable development and support processes), require limited direction, give significant direction, handle highly complex problems, posses extensive knowledge of policies, standards and procedures, have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Establish the business model and underlying operations model for Global Smart Devices and Services.
•Set team and service objectives.
•Provide direct supervision including mentoring, performance management and staffing decisions for multiple teams.
•Participate in development of the Business / IT vision for Smart Medical Devices. Responsible for translating the vision into short and long term goals and deliverables.
•Determine and manage priorities, timelines and schedules.
•Interact regularly with customers to understand their business and to anticipate the needed IT skills/services.
•Review multiple team, group or service deliverables to ensure quality (design walk-through, test results, etc.) and adherence to processes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
•Manage or actively participate in the budget process.
•Participate in the research, analysis, selection, and implementation of new tools, technologies and/or services.
•Develop, gather and measure relevant productivity metrics.
Job Requirements
Strong business knowledge, presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills and teamwork skills. Ability to accomplish results through others. Influencing skills. Leadership and budget experience required. Experience with architecting and delivering customer facing web/portal solutions. Experience with software development methodologies/lifecycle, in particular in a regulated environment. Java / Spring Framework project experience a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred or relevant work experience. 10+ years of systems experience including 3+ years of leadership. Lean/6-Sigma certification preferred. Formal project management training also a plus.
