Title: Manager, Software Development Location: MA-Cambridge Teragram, a R&D group in Advanced Analytics division of SAS Institute Inc., develops state-of-the art text analytics technologies providing compact and scalable solutions to numerous problems in natural language processing, text classification, sentiment analysis, question-answering, search, information extraction and storage. This position will lead a team of dynamic developers in coordination with other development teams at SAS to design large scale and high-speed implementation of complex information retrieval systems for SAS' Social Media offering.
The successful candidate will perform both a managerial and hands-on role, bringing new and fresh ideas to the position while driving the team to innovate and implement solutions. The candidate should be highly passionate and motivated to meet the needs of the business in a collaborative, exciting, fast-paced environment and should demonstrate a solid track record of success. Depending on experience, additional responsibilities may include methodical research and implementation of sentiment analysis, text mining, crawling and data acquisition, social network analysis, other analytical techniques and coordination of release and QA management.
Essential · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related analytics field · Experience in software development, techniques, languages and tools · Experience in sentiment analysis methods (e.g. automated sentiment vs. rule-based), social media principles (e.g. influence scoring), developing and deploying Software-as-a-Service, large scale programming concepts (e.g. multi-threading, concurrency) · Minimum 5 years of experience in software development and software development management · Programming experience in at least two of the following programming languages: Python, C/C , Java, Perl and SAS

· Background with scaling Internet applications and servers in a high load environment · Understanding of front-end development (HTML/HTML5/XHMTL, CSS, Javascript, Flash/Flex, Silverlight, Ajax, and DHTML) and familiarity with web technologies (REST, SOAP, JSP, servlets) · Experience with Agile application development methodologies · Experience with source control and development coding practices · Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to lead, manage and communicate goals to technical employees; ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical problems; strong decision making skills
