Manufacturing Systems Engineer
Looking for an out of the box thinking Mechanical Engineer or Manufacturing Technologist who is familiar with Moonshine Activity-a Lean+ tool where people, equipment, and materials are readily available to conceptualize, build, test and prove out prototype process changes in a highly complex aerospace environment.
Need a degreed engineer (ABET accredited program is a plus) who can eliminate non-value added production processes. (Experience with Chaku Chaku, Moving Lines, Value Stream Mapping, Poka-Yoke, Right Sized Equipment, and Autonomation Devices is preferred). Aerospace experience in both design & fabrication of production manufacturing equipment, machines, tools & systems and has the mechanical abilities to prototype, test, revise, and improve upon right size equipment developments leading to single-piece production flow is a plus.
Will help define requirements for materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture of high technology products and lead development of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and simulation processes. Must have the skills and knowledge to evaluate emerging technologies for potential application to our aerospace business needs. Must be collaborative in nature, and fully willing to support senior engineers in the development and qualification of new materials, parts and processes to meet technical requirements.
Should be able to conduct complex analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts or processes and then develop Implementation action plans and schedules. Applicant should be highly skilled with Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint and other business software applications. Will provide assistance with design, development and qualification of sophisticated computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements, and promote the use of simulation programs in the Production environment. Works under general supervision, teamed with a senior engineer on most projects.
Competencies
General• Adaptability
Tries to understand changes in work-group tasks, situations, and the department as well as the logic or basis for change; occasionally seeks information about changes affecting their individual job. Treats changes and new situations as opportunities for learning or growth; focuses on the beneficial aspects of change; speaks positively about the change to fellow work group members. Quickly modifies behavior to deal effectively with changes in the work environment; readily tries new approaches appropriate for new or changed situations; does not persist with ineffective behaviors.
• Innovation
Seeks alternative ways to view or define problems. Tries to combine ideas in unique ways or makes connections between disparate ideas; explores different lines of thought; views situations from multiple perspectives; participates in brainstorming approaches/solutions. Focuses on areas for innovation and suggests solutions that address meaningful issues in own work area.
• Systems Thinking
Gains understanding of job tasks and processes and how they contribute to meeting work group objective(s). Identifies non-value-adding tasks and alerts more experienced employees for possible improvements. Participates in changes to job/role structures and processes as directed by supervisor.
