We are currently looking for an experienced Master Data Steward to join our innovative, growing company.
The Master Data Steward's role is to ensure high level of data quality across the enterprise through the creation and management of sound data management processes. This individual is responsible for standardizing data naming, establishing consistent data definitions, and monitoring overall data quality. This role will also be responsible for supporting program operations utilizing both proprietary software applications and main stream technologies such as Tactician One and Microsoft SQL Server. The ideal candidate will be assigned to one of the various service groups within Information Services to lead the Data Management Group.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Lead, coordinate, and manage all aspects of GIS implementations
- Participate in design of new GIS analysis methodologies, applications, and strategies
- Create and implement a data management strategy for achieving and maintaining high data quality
Acquisition & Deployment
- Ensure that new systems and/or applications adhere to existing data management practices, policies, and procedures
- Identify and ensure the resolution of data quality issues, such as uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness in a cost-effective and timely fashion
- Perform data audits on a regular basis. The results of these audits should be tied into service level agreements (SLAs) between data entry personnel, IT, and the appropriate business units
- Devise, coordinate, and conduct mass data-cleansing initiatives for the purpose of purging and eliminating corrupt or redundant information from corporate databases
- Identify causes of poor data quality, implement solutions and communicate findings to employees, management, and stakeholders
- Develop and enforce methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and accuracy at the point of entry
- Maintain and augment remote sensing and relational databases
- Coordinate and conduct GIS training sessions for GIS staff and end users with client-facing application needs
- Lead transitions of GIS applications to next-generation environments and/or cross-functional systems
- Recommend and execute modifications to GIS software in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance
- Conduct research and make recommendations on products, tools, services, protocols, and standards that will support the data management strategy
