The IT Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day Maximo system administration and maintenance. The IT Specialist will have previous system administration and/or help desk experience, especially in support of Maximo systems. The Specialist will take direction from local project IT management leaders, and must be able to work autonomously on various assignments combined with the discernment to know how to approach complex and difficult issues. Regular activities include consult, plan, manage, and deliver IT services in support of the Parsons project as they pertain to Maximo facilities management and related systems. The candidate must possess excellent project management and client-facing skills.
The Specialist may also manage the activities of a work group dedicated to providing systems analysis and/or computer application solutions for multiple applications development functions. The Specialist is a primary interface with system users population on all matters relating to system use and operations.
The Specialist will also support project leaders by identifying IT requirements for continued efficient operations, participating in IT planning for the project, and delivery of support services necessary for successful program execution.
Daily Duties include the following:
Participate as needed in team meetings and planning sessions.
Facilitate system use, configuration, and data reporting requests.
Develop and maintain documentation in support of system training and operations.
Provide phone and in-person support to technology user community.
Application support for various facilities management systems.(Procurement and Inventory Management)
Perform server backup, restoral, and system maintenance procedures as needed.
Candidate must possess strong troubleshooting skills (Websphere, Oracle DB), be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, and meet scheduled deadlines. After-hours and weekend support may be required.
Qualifications
US Top Secret Security clearance, or ability to be cleared to a TS SCI w/Polygraph level.
Strong customer relationship experience
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding customer service and telephone skills
Support and use of Maximo systems, preferably version 6.x
Technical background and expertise Information Technology
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills.
Experience with US Government Information Systems Security environments
Background working within a Military and/or Government Contracting environment
Knowledge and experience with a wide variety of computer, communications, and applications technologies and tools used in the facilities management industry.
Experience with database systems including MS SQL and Access.
A passion for learning new technologies and finding better solutions.
Desired Skills
Experience with large or complex systems integration.
Support and use of Archibus
Experience with Windows Server 2K and Windows XP operating systems. Experience in providing operational and maintenance support in a LAN environment.
The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Computer Science (or related curriculum) and at least 10-15 years of progressive experience in systems analysis/programming utilizing specialized languages (or an equivalent combination of work experience and education).
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
A thorough understanding of current and newly-developing software applications and technology is required. Incumbent should be proficient in utilizing multiple programming languages (e.g., C++, Visual Basic, JAVA, etc.). Also requires strong problem solving and analytical skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with users and team members on technical and non-technical subjects. In addition, the incumbent must have the potential to lead a small technical team (1or 2 team members).
