Maintain the proper inventory levels, item mix, and gross profit, which enables IFH to achieve its business plan.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.
Manages the components of gross profit attributable to purchasing in such a manner that objectives are met or exceeded (cost of goods, freight, terms, etc...)
2.
Manages inventory to achieve service level, hassle free, dead inventory, and days supply goals.
3.
Recommends and participates in the selection of new items, lines, and vendors that profitably meet the needs of IFH's customers.
4.
Maintains the accuracy of various files used for costing and invoicing (item, vendor, cost, etc.).
5.
Sales rep training as required.
6.
Works with DSRs and customers to assist them in growing their sales and increasing their profitability.
7.
Regularly meets with brokers and vendors in order to keep abreast of trends in the market, new items, promotional opportunities, etc.
8.
Negotiates with suppliers for costs and promotional moneys. Develops relationships with suppliers.
9.
Supervises activities of buyers assistants.

Requirements:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The incumbent should possess the level of expertise acquired from having a two years of fresh meat buying experience in a foodservice company.
He/She must be analytical in his/her thought process, possess good interpersonal skills, and have a strong work ethic.
Preferably have experience in:
Purchasing a minimum of a few product categories.
Establishing systems to generate more gross margin dollars.
Automating procedure to be more efficient and accurate.

DIRECTION/RESPONSIBILITY:
Works under general supervision of the Purchasing Director within established policies and guidelines. Incumbent is expected to make daily decisions aboit his/her schedule and problem resolutuon with existing policies and systems.
