DESCRIPTION: Mechanical Engineer in Sleep Therapy Integrated Systems The incumbent of this position is responsible for participating in the successful integration of new products into a flow based high volume medical device manufacturing system. The successful applicant in this position will also provide ongoing technical support for Sleep Therapy Integrated Systems products.
Your Responsibilities: Outcomes: The successful candidate will: .Provide technical expertise in the ongoing engineering support in the production of quality products. .Provide continuing support to new product development efforts to meet external quality requirements and manufacturability requirements. .Actively participate and present ideas on margin improvement, product improvement and quality improvement. .Interact with Quality Assurance, Global Sourcing, Product Service/Support, Marketing and fellow engineers to achieve project and product objectives for safety, performance, usability, manufacturability, reliability, cost, quality, and time to market. .Maintain a focus and, as necessary, perform investigations to ensure continued overall product quality and reliability of supported products with the intent of achieving goals for and/or improving field-related quality, line yield, and supplied component yield. .Ensure the continuity of business is maintained by addressing and performing First Article Inspections in support of mechanical component obsolescence and availability issues for supported Sleep Therapy products. .Support future initiatives of the company by implementing / participating in enhancements to current products as required.
Growth: The successful candidate will: .Continue to learn about the technologies used in Philips Sleep Therapy products. .Become familiar with Philips systems/tools and the change notice processes, including learning about SAP PDM and QM modules, change notice outline requirements, and quality system procedures. .Work with supervisor to develop competencies within the position and across the organization.

EXPERIENCE: .Minimum of 3 years of experience and established track record of successful results. .Experience utilizing a disciplined, structured, and repetitive product engineering life cycle process, required. .Knowledge of metals and plastics as well as various material processing techniques, required. .Experience in the design of injection molded plastic parts, materials selection, stress analysis, analysis of sound and vibration and DC motor / blower development, highly preferred. .Experience with material, component, and product testing methods and statistical analysis techniques, required. .Experience in the analysis of electro-mechanical components and systems, to include experience in CFD analysis, FEA and Pro-E is desired. .Demonstrated high sense of urgency in resolving design issues as they relate to manufacturability, required. .Experience with creating innovative solutions and demonstrating feasibility, preferred. .Direct experience with integrating/transitioning new product ideas into cost effective, high production yield, and easy to manufacture products, highly desirable. .Understanding of FDA, MDD, & ISO Quality System Requirements (including safety and regulatory testing) and their application within a medical product development environment, desirable.
