We are currently seeking a Microsoft Technical Support Specialist for a NYS Contract position. This is a 1 year contract opportunity. Duties will include: - Provide Level 2 desktop support, onsite and remote, including all imaging and/or re-imaging of workstations/laptops - Install new and redeployed equipment - Perform hardware and software patching - Perform user account administration including Active Directory Authentication, Group Email Entitlement, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) - Perform printer administration including installation, commissioning, spooling, and monitoring - Install and setup PDA type devices (Blackberry?, Palm Pilots, Pocket PCs) - Perform maintenance on all hardware and software relating to workstations, laptops, and PDA devices - Run diagnostic software to ensure that equipment operates properly and take appropriate corrective action when required - Install, configure, and/or customize software and ensure that the configurations meet Agency requirements - Monitor Help Desk Problem Tracking Systems for end user requests - Participate in the retirement of computer equipment - Run/analyze reports per operational procedures - Review proactively event logs, performance reports, and complete regular system verifications - Prepare, attend, participate, and complete action items for all Change Control activities - Manage connectors to other email systems - Manage small projects for implementation of new components - Provide operation and procedural documentation Requirements: Candidates *MUST* meet all mandatory requirements in order to be considered: - More than 3 years general help desk experience in a large-scale environment - More than 3 years business work experience with Windows XP in a large-scale environment - More than 3 years business work experience with Office Productivity Suites, commercial off-the-shelf applications, Web-based application installations, and Microsoft Active Directory structures - Associate's degree in Business, MIS, or Computer Science or equivalent experience and training - A+ certification or equivalent - Excellent oral and written English communication skills Desirable Skills: - Level 2 Desktop Support experience including PC setup, troubleshooting and diagnostic tools (e.g. Alteris, LANguard, Ghost), problem solving, strong interpersonal skills - User Admin experience with MS best practices for provisioning and demonstrated ability to utilize user provisioning tools (ex. Hyena or MMC, terminal services), ability to create/maintain and troubleshoot logon, LDAP accounts, provide email admin, global groups, distribution lists. - Printer admin skills in setting up and troubleshooting network printers in an enterprise environment, set group policies, allocating printer drivers, grant access, clear and restart queue, resolve IP address conflicts. - Remote Control tools experience manipulating PCs, comprehensive understanding/use of tools such as Tivoli, LANDesk, Alteris, IBM Director, VNC - Citrix/Mainframe Connectivity experience setting up and troubleshooting to Citrix Servers/farms - Documentation experience creating and understanding system documentation (ex.
