This position is in development of eBay’s innovative frameworks and tooling for SOAP and REST based Java service construction. If you are a world class systems programmer and like the challenge of our very high volume, 24x7 production environment, and have strong team skills and customer focus, this position is for you. You will work with client-server runtime, Eclipse development tooling, monitoring, asset repository, and security components. You must be bright, self motivated, results-oriented, and in possession of excellent computer science fundamentals.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Key contributor to eBay’s SOA infrastructure code. Excellent concurrent java programming is an absolute must. Java development will be >50% of the allocated time.
* Work with engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, Performance Engineering, and Operations teams to develop meet functional and nonfunctional requirements on schedule.
* Estimate engineering effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help roll out system changes to the eBay site. Help define and lead the implementation of complex, multi-tier distributed software applications.
* Develop industry and product technical expertise relating to eBay’s deployment and business model.
* 6+ years experience required in object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java and J2EE, including Servlets, JSP, Java Beans, EJB, JMS, RMI, JDBC.
* Understanding of memory issues such as JVM Garbage collection concepts is required; knowledge of performance tooling such as JProfiler is required.
* Strong experience with JUnit is required.
* Strong knowledge of XML processing (DOM, SAX) required.
* Experience in distributed multi-tier systems and client-server architectures is required.
* Experience working with other organizations such as Operations, Load & Performance, Security, Build/Release, QA and Training, is strongly desired.
* Strong understanding of software development processes required.
* Solid Experience using W2K and UNIX required.
* Moderate to high degree of experience developing frameworks or other infrastructure code that others will use, is required.
* Extensive experience in designing and implementing large server software with particular attention to security, scalability and high performance, is required.
* Preferred Skills:
* STAX, JAXB, SOAP background desired.
* Web services Background-Axis, XFire engine experience desired.
* Familiar with source code control tools such as ClearCase, SVN, SourceSafe, or CVS.
