Position Title NCG PROGRAM - PRODUCT SUPPORT ENGINEER Functional Area Research and Development Location Multiple Locations Job Description-Mgr: please s text will be posted externally. These positions are a part of the Novellus New College Graduate program. This is a specific program designed for students who have recently graduated or plan on graduating in the near future. Eligibility Requirements: To be considered in the New College Graduate program, applicants need to have graduated with a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD within the past 12 months or will be graduating by the time the position starts. Locations: These positions are located in one or both of the following locations: Portland, Oregon or San Jose, California. Eduation: The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. JOB DESCRIPTION: Are you interested in traveling internationally as part of your job? If so, this could be the right position for you. This position is similar to an internal helpdesk for Novellus field technicians who are having problems with our equipment in the field. The employee will analyze problems with non-functioning electro/mechanical equipment or software applications to identify problem area(s) and recommend corrective action. If the problem cannot be resolved over the phone, the employee in this position will travel to the field location to assist in person. After time, the position will expand to include calls from customers as well as internal Novellus employees. Travel could include places such as Taiwan , Korea , China , etc. Tracks and communicates design, development, support, and maintenance solutions in coordination with product development engineers. Provides design input through validation of continuous improvement projects and testing maintainability of new designs. Develops technical training and publications content. Trains field personnel on system installations and complex upgrades. Drives resolution of design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs by design engineering/software. Involved in field and customer training. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors and consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in recommending to customers/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature. Develops and maintains trouble-shooting/problem solving and support tools and procedures. Manages situations, including customer communication when necessary, where second-line support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunction equipment or software. Provides engineering and project management support to field and technical support engineers who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, and/or complex software. Requires a Bachelors or advanced degree in a relevant scientific field (or equivalent knowledge attained through a combination of work experience and formal instruction), working knowledge of company products, company functions, marketing and/or service policies and procedures, and excellent communication skills. Requires ability to travel 50%, nationally and internationally. Excellent Technical writing and Documentation skills required.
