This is an initial one year contract with good possibility of renewals.
Scope of Work / Description:
Responsible for day to day operational support as well as projects in the network area (LAN/MAN/WAN). This is a hands-on technical position responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, support and management of highly-available network solutions. Remote field site LAN and WAN projects are the focus of this position.
Responsibilities / Responsabilités Key Responsibilities: . Daily support for field-based projects and initiatives . Deliver standardized network solutions based on business requirements . Timely delivery of solutions for the Field Support Team . Evaluation and implementation of Network products (i.e. Cisco products, Monitoring tools, etc.) . Documentation of existing & new network implementations . Provide rotational on-call after hour support 7X24X365 as well as implementing changes outside of core business hours.
Requirements / Exigences Key Hiring / Evaluation Criteria and Mandatory Qualifications:
Must Have: . 5+ Years Technical Hands-On Cisco Network Experience, specifically with WAN topologies . Experience with IOS and CatOS switching and routing products and configuration . LAN and WAN technologies and configuration (EIGRP, STP, QoS, PoE) . Experience designing and implementing wireless PtP data network links, both licensed and unlicensed (path profiling, tower analysis, antenna selection, radio configuration) . Familiarity with remote field site locations such as gas plants and man camps . Design, configuration, installation, management and support of highly available network solutions . Ability to read printed wiring diagrams and site layout diagrams . Expert troubleshooting and problem solving skills . Experience with management and troubleshooting tools - Sniffer, SolarWinds, CiscoWorks . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Experience working with end-users, clients and IT support people remotely using con-call and video conferencing . Must be highly motivated and eager to take on new tasks
Nice to Have Skills / Experience:
Local Area Network Skills: . Network segmentation using VLANs (802.1q), trunking and routing . Wiring standards and technologies - Cat5/6, SMF, MMF (OM-3 and -4) . Experience with DC power systems and DC powered network equipment . Experience with UPS systems and small server room facilities
Wide Area Networking Skills: . EIGRP routing in a HA WAN environment . WAN Technologies - Ethernet, MPLS, Frame Relay, T1, DS3, satellite . Remote troubleshooting and problem resolution . Experience with remote site facilities - towers, antennas, cabling, etc.
Cisco IPTel skills: . LAN and WAN configuration for IPTel - SRST, QoS, PoE . VOIP protocols and standards - SIP, MGCP, RTP, RTCP, SDP, etc.
Other: . Experience with Problem Ticketing and Tracking tools, such as Magic and BMC Service Desk . Familiarity with SCADA Control systems - designing segmentation, security, and access controls . Knowledge of network management tools such as SNMPc, Solarwinds NPM and NCM, OPNet IT Guru, Infinistream Sniffer, Visio. . Certifications - CCNP, CCIP, CCDP etc. would be an asset but are not required
