Job description <b>Responsibilities:</b> . This position involves analysing IT requirements for IBM customer's projects to ensure that appropriate infrastructure is designed and implemented in accordance with the client's requirements and global and local IBM standards. . Whilst, the position requires primarily architectural work (dealing with all components of an IT infrastructure environment), it is expected that the Network Architect will be able to understand these technologies at a deeper level as required and appropriate. Infrastructure includes: . Intel and midrange server environments . LAN / WAN and other networking technologies . Storage technologies, such as SAN, fibre-channel, NAS technologies . Security infrastructure . Systems management . Utility based models for server and storage capacity . Integration technologies . Backup and recovery methodologies . DR facilities . Facilities management . The role will be required to lead other architects (applications, infrastructure etc), IT Specialists, application developers and operations staff to ensure an appropriate solution is designed. The Network Architect will be able to understand and balance requirements from different sources in complex environments and translate these into robust infrastructure designs. . Experience of infrastructure lifecycle management and design methodologies is very desirable with a strong understanding of systems management processes and techniques . Creation of documentations as required ensuring that a sound, high quality solution can be implemented and supported. These documentations include proposals, Statements of Work (SoWs), high level and detailed technical designs. . The position will be required to assist customers with developing enterprise strategy and architecture across varied program of works, as well as assisting with the build, test, and installation of the designed infrastructure. . Interface with account teams, the customer and the service delivery centre to ensure that expectations are met and requirements balanced and delivered on. . Interface with vendors and service providers as needed particularly to keep up to speed with the latest technologies and developments which might be appropriate to the development of the network solutions . Is accountable for solution's output in terms of quality, timeliness and compliance with requirements as defined in the Scope of Requirements (SoR) . Identifies, estimates and presents cost, schedule, technical risk for solution elements, both in proposal effort and implementation planning . Responds to new business opportunities that may affect customer satisfaction as well as cost effective solutions to positively affect project costs or expenses. . Utilises approved methodologies, process and toolsets defined within the IBMGS architectural competency group. . Aligns effort to meet the objectives of IBM . Participates in client reviews and internal technical project reviews
