Role : Hands-on Network Design, implementation & support
Location : Derby based but regular visits will be required to Rolls Royce Satellite sites across the UK
Overview of Service to be provided: Senior network engineers for hands-on roles encompassing network design, installation, commissioning and support The primary focus of the roles is to provide :- . Design and implementation of new and existing network infrastructure within the Datacentre and campus environments to HP Quality Management System standards and to actively peer review work proposed by other engineers Predominately in-depth technical roles, they require a good understanding of project management methodology and excellent documentation skills.
Essential Deliverables: . Candidates ideally qualified CCNP, CCIE, CCDP . Testing, installing and commissioning large Cisco LANs in both client Datacentre & Campus environments . Configuration of Cisco Catalyst 6500 range of switches, using both Cisco IOS and CatOS in a 99.999% availability environment . Configuration of Cisco 6500 modules including CSM, FWSM, SSL Offload, NAM in a 99.999% availability environment . Design Cisco based LANs in a high pressure environment to perform at 99.999% availability . Troubleshoot Cisco LAN problems in a TCP/IP environment where both OSPF and BGP routing protocols are configured . Work within a highly process-driven ITIL compliant environment with a full understanding of client & HP Change & Release Management systems, client Configuration Management Database, client & HP Incident & Problem Management process etc. . Lead technical discussions with Customer architects, managers, suppliers and other teams . Work directly to customer employed project mangers using client's Project Management processes . Be self-motivated and be prepared to work either completely independently or as a member of a highly organised team depending upon exact project assignment . Produce excellent written communication skills
Desired Deliverables: . Design and implement LAN elements required to support Cisco/ProCurve/HP A series infrastructure . Design and implement Cisco switches into a virtualised environment
Day to Day Services to be provided: . Network design, installation and commissioning in a project environment . Producing client standard test, implementation and back-out plans . Producing client standard Technical Infrastructure Plans (TIP) . Production of client standard Network diagrams using MS Visio . Production of HP standard QMS documents . Network/Operational Management for services provided by multiple third party suppliers (C&W, BT, Verizon) . Liaison with multiple third party vendors when installing new systems or implementing changes . Third line support during operational incidents Other Information: . The services will be delivered in a 37.5 hour week with a requirement to support additional out of normal business hours work on specific request only
Security Clearance . Government/Home Office standard security clearance essential.
