Day to Day Work Researches, organizes, writes, edits, and produces data for a wide variety of technical publications. Recommends overall organization and layout, editorial standards, and publication methods. Ensures documentation meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards. Gathers, analyzes, translates and composes technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel. Composes technical documents including, standard operating procedures and policies, user's manuals, training materials, installation guides, and reports. Conducts research and ensures the use of proper technical terminology. Demonstrated skills: Experience (5 years) as an Information Systems Technical Writer and as an Information Security Business Analyst within the DoD/DoN IT infrastructure. Experience (2 years) in IA support for DoD and/or DON agencies. Must be experienced and have knowledge of DoD and DON IA policy, DIACAP guidance (DoDI 8510.01), and DoD IA Controls (DoD 8500.2). Experience (3 years) with RETINA, DISA Gold Disk, DISA STIGS, and SRR (scripts). Experience (4 years) assessing, summarizing, applying, and providing technical guidance for security directives and patches in support of Information Assurance Vulnerability Management Program. Must possess and demonstrate strong, clear and precise writing skills dealing with policy documents, briefings, white papers, graphics and messages. Demonstrate experience in showing ideas graphically; ability to interact technically with SMEs and to write clearly. Create workflow diagrams utilizing Visio as it relates to the IA policies being developed within the IA Ops environment which includes IA Ops Standard Operating Procedures and Processes as well as Desk Guides. Experience in developing training manuals for internal IA Ops staff regarding the different areas of responsibility to provide cross functional identification, procedures, and functions to better support IA ops and MSC, utilizing the MSC established format for official/formal documentation. Develop reports for from log/audit reviews, develop dashboards for IA Ops activity, response and current state as it relates to the various areas of responsibility with IA Ops. Provide status for technical development at a minimum of weekly to the IA Ops Manager. Experience gathering, analyzing and composing technical information - Experience conducting research - Translation of technical information into clear and readable documents - Producing technical and scientific illustrations - Desktop publishing software Specific Job Description Provides technical writing for program and operational documentation. EDUCATION: None Specified by government.Clearance: Contractor personnel in IT-II positions must have completed a successful background investigation and have a Secret clearance.
