Network Engineer- Network Engineering evaluates, plans and designs the network architecture based on its current and future utilization and demand. A Network Engineer applies their knowledge of new technology, network evolution and financial modeling to solve today's requirements and challenges as well as evolving the existing network to meet future market demand. There is an immediate opportunity in Network Engineering for an individual that possesses planning and engineering skills, with a strong emphasis on Data Networking, IP technologies and OSP Engineering. This individual will be responsible for preparing detailed engineering plans for day-to-day network engineering tasks. These tasks include creating engineering projects that place equipment that supports Ethernet, DS1 and DS3 orders, DSLAM installations and the design of the fiber and copper facilities associated with them as well as facilitating their completion through local construction and operations resources. Minimum Qualifications -B.S. in Engineering orfive years of Telecommunications Engineering/Operations experience in an ILEC, CLEC or IXC industry. Two of the five years must be Networking Engineering specific including working with the outside plant or the transmission network. * Computer Skills - Must be proficient with computer applications including CAD records and MS Office (Excel, Word, Visio and Power Point). * Financial Analysis - Must be able to generate a business case including executive summary, alternative solutions, cost assumptions and recommendation. * Leadership Skills - Must be comfortable facilitating projects and making technical and financial decisions. * Presentation Skills - Must be comfortable presenting and be able to provide appropriate level of material support to all audiences - Executive, Engineering, Marketing and Customer. * Writing Skills - Must be able to write in a clear and concise manner to technical, customer and executive audiences. * Vendor Relations - Must be comfortable in talking to vendors from both a technical and financial stance to solve complex network challenges. * Travel - Minimal travel, however must be able to drive up to eight hours or travel by airplane. Recommended Qualifications- * IP and Ethernet network design * ATM and Frame Relay network design * SONET network design * DSL (ATM/IP; ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL) protocols and design * DSLAM Deployment * FTTH and fiber network design * Copper cable design * Basic pole line and conduit design * Equipment and job package creation * Equipment testing and selection * Project costing * Project implementation and management * Cisco CCNA, CCNP certification * Vendor specific platform experience - Calix (C7), Adtran (1148/1248/3000/6100/5000), Cisco (3400, 3550, 3750, 7600) Job Location GLOVERSVILLE, NY, US.
