Network Planning Engineer II. The primary role of this position is to assist in the design, configuration and maintenance of WLAN, 802.1x and VPN infrastructure. In addition, this resource will take an active role in capacity planning and network monitoring.
Required Knowledge of 802.11a/b/g/n and 802.1x authentication. Assists in conducting and documenting network architecture design, feasibility and modeling. Assists with the design, analysis, planning, modification and documentation of network components and/or software by translating customer requirements and objectives into final product design. Assists with the development, evaluation and documentation of network performance criteria and measurement methods. Assists with the preparation, analysis and documentation of short-term or long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling, and preparation of certification and accreditation documentation for the DIACAP process. Thorough knowledge of and ability to use and apply network configuration management principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Problem Solving: Provides solutions to a variety of problems involving multiple variables and inter-relationships. Responsibility: Works well independently with guidance and supervision. Achieves desired results, anticipates unusual problems and discusses them with supervisor. Proposes new and improved work methods, and receives permission prior to deviating from current guidelines. Education: Bachelor of science in information technology or related field. Experience: 2 years with DoD networks. Certifications: ITIL v3 Foundations and CCNA.
