Job Location: Various locations in Afghanistan Title: Network Systems Analyst II Position Summary Individual will support a local area network consisting of Cisco routers, switches connected to a large scale Satellite Communications based network, perform System Administration tasks on Windows 2003 and 2008 Server, and Windows Vista platforms. The technician will be supported by off-site leadership and a 24x7 Network Operations Center located in the United States. Duties and Responsibilities(including but not limited to)
· Process trouble tickets, creating user accounts in Active Directory · Troubleshoot software issues quickly and effectively (Vista, Outlook, Windows 2003/2008 Server, Active Directory, and Exchange 2003) · Troubleshoot hardware issues quickly and effectively (Dell servers and laptops, CISCO VoIP phones, printers and Cisco routers, and switches) · Set appropriate permissions for network resources, configuring routers and switches · Set up, operate and maintain Tandberg video tele-conferencing devices ensuring customer availability · Install, configure, maintain and backup servers and associated network devices · Maintain and monitor organization Information Assurance policies and enforce adherence to network security and policies · Perform equipment status monitoring, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment · Maintain inventories for site equipment to include test equipment · Fabricate CAT5 and/or CAT6 cables to industry standards · Analyze task requirements to determine functional and cross-functional requirements · Apply a wide range of analytical techniques, assessments, and other measures in evaluating data to reach appropriate conclusions · Translate/recommend processes and procedures to ensure proper consideration of programmatic, technical, and management factors for overall program management successes · Identify resources required for each task · Provide daily supervision and direction to support staff Basic Qualifications (including education and years of experience required)
· Bachelor's degree or ten years of relevant experience · Eight years of experience in developing functional requirements for complex integrated ADP systems · Must possess superior functional knowledge of task order-specific requirements and have experience in developing functional requirements for complex integrated ADP systems · Must have experience including developing functional requirements for integrated telecommunications systems · Must demonstrate the ability to work independently or under only general direction · Understand signal flow and network diagrams · Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change; able to handle adversity and maintain effectiveness · Must be willing to travel to hazardous duty areas to include southwest Asia (SWA), if required · Must be a U.S. citizen · Must possess an active SECRET clearance, meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and will be subject to a government security investigation · Required to meet IAT Level II certification standards as per the DoD 8570.01-M - Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (IAWIP).These requirements include holding a currently Sec+ and one of the following commercial certifications: Server+, MCP workstation (XP or VISTA), MCP Server (03 or 08) & Cisco CCENT (at minimum) Additional Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge
· Familiarity with Cisco IOS, and IP routing protocols and devices · Knowledge of Vista, Windows 2003/2008 Server, Active Directory, Exchange 2K3 · Current CCNA certification · MCSE 2003/2008 · Linux or Unix certification is a plus · iDirect training · Experience working with DOD networks, related systems and applications Physical Requirements (lifting, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, etc.) · Capable of lifting 50 lbs. · Capable of withstanding heat in excess of 120 degrees for extended periods of time · Physically capable of walking distances up to 1 mile · Physically capable of running 50 yards DRS Defense Solutions, LLC is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
