Operations Engineer

| Operations Engineer Ensign Energy Services Inc. is one of the largest land-based drilling and well servicing contractors in the world and our business is growing. We are a leader in oil field services and we are committed to creating and using innovative technologies to improve the safety and efficiency of our operations. Summary: Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, the position of Operations Engineer will support operations and marketing through rig design, inspection, repair and reporting. The incumbent will also be involved in research and development of equipment and processes related to the current operating fleet. Position Responsibilities: . Assisting with the establishment and monitoring of preventative maintenance programs for major equipment; . Maintaining equipment ratings (capabilities) and records; . Designing structures and fittings for drilling equipment; . Researching and preparing reports on operations related problems as identified by superintendents and rig managers; . Providing client support for the selection of equipment such as tubulars, blow-out prevention equipment and fluid handing; . Performing equipment failure analysis and subsequent recommendations; . Providing direction and supervision to sub-contractors and tradesman during equipment upgrades and construction. The ideal candidate will have: . An accredited Engineering Degree, with eligibility for APEGGA registration; . Heavy industry experience, manufacturing or maintenance. Additional Information: . This position is based in Nisku, Alberta. Due to the wide geographical area in which Ensign operates, some travel will be necessary; . Drilling and Servicing operations operate continuously, therefore the incumbent must provide or have access to field Engineering support on a 24- hour basis (on-call duties); . Incumbent may be required to provide direction to outside suppliers and tradesmen in the procurement and repair of Ensign equipment.
