Operations Research Analyst
Applies operations research, statistical, mathematical, and related analytical techniques to support problem solving in Department of Defense areas of global deployment, mobility and distribution. Designs and conducts supporting models and regression analysis. Serves as a team analyst for USTRANSCOM in direct support of a Joint Concept Development and Experiment project that will identify capabilities necessary to aid Joint Force Commanders in planning/creating/operating a theater distribution network. Performs data consolidation, cleansing and analysis, and presents data from one or more source systems to analyze integrated data and factors on existing distribution capability gaps in order to identify required capabilities to mitigate existing gaps in support. Data analysis may include complex algorithmic design solutions and the development of relational database solutions to combine data and analysis from multiple systems. The output will typically be in MS Excel, PDF, PowerPoint, MS Word, Visual Basic, Notebook or web format. Position requires strong statistics and communication skills while working in a multi-functional team environment (technical and functional experts)
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (minimum) from an accredited college or university in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management Science, with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Prefer demonstrated competence and educaiton in courses that include applications of regression analysis, forecasting, and time series analysis. Practical experience with languages ""R"" and SQL a plus and 2 years experience.
