Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a business intelligence and data warehousing (BI/DW) project architect for the Transformation and Systems Consolidation (TASC) program, constructs the overall system architecture of the extract/transfer/load (ETL) processes associated with feeder systems and the primary TASC system, to include external and internal interface analysis, internal interface definition, and functional requirement allocations. Performs disciplined systems architectures as it relates to TASC processes associated with the overall systems engineering processes. Establishes system architectural design and functional requirements for TASC, to include external and internal interface analysis, definition and requirement allocation.
Works with cutting edge technologies and innovative equipment to design, develop, analyze, and execute technical solutions in support of customer architectural and engineering development and requirements, and evaluation and analysis of current and future technology. Identifies discrepancies between the enterprise technical architecture and systems designs proposed by project teams, and assists project teams in resolving the discrepancies. Builds and uses analysis models and techniques to support the evaluation of current and proposed future architectures.
Identifies architectural and technology risks with the potential to impact TASC plans; develops goals and plans to mitigate risks. Defines ETL architectural issues and allocates requirements. Identifies hardware and software architectural needs and solutions. Designs protocols applicable to assigned projects and system needs. Designs real-time software applications on selected platforms. Establishes project development practices to achieve reliable results.
Advises functional analysts and system engineers and proposes changes to the enterprise technical architecture based on analysis of requirements and new technology. Works closely with systems users to provide guidance in the identification and resolution of user problems and concerns.
Adheres to configuration management and documentation practices.
Required Qualifications:
* This role will require the ability to perform detailed, complex analysis, plus knowledge of ETL architectural practices and principles necessary to assess advanced systems concepts, specifications and data system integration. * Must have prior experience in a related field of expertise as an ETL architect and analyst. * Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, and ten to twelve years of related (large-scale information system architecture) experience.
Desired Qualifications:
* Possess knowledge of ETL processes as they relate to business intelligence and data warehouse principles and design factors. Should be familiar with ETL tools such as Informatica. * Have an understanding of DHS financial, acquisition and asset management data systems * Hold a basic understanding of DHS customer roles in the financial, acquisition and asset management processes and business intelligence/data warehousing functionality in relation to financial, acquisition and asset management functionality.
