A minimum of one (1) year of computer and/or telecommunication equipment installation experience. Performs as a member of site installation teams. Under general supervision, independently performs troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation activities such as assembling, configuring and installing new computer equipment or units of local area network requiring use of standard interface protocols. Performs simple IT and communications equipment installation following detailed technical instructions, diagrams, and checklists. Ability to lift and hold 40 pounds. Ability to read and red line rack elevation or wiring drawings. Desired experience includes cable and wire harness fabrication and installation to include: . 12 pair cabling to EIA530 and RS449; . Twinax; . Coax; . CAT 6; . single and multimode fiber optic cables; and, . the testing and certifying of cables in accordance with current telecommunications Industry Association.
Essential Job Functions
* Installs complex voice and video telecommunications equipment and peripheral devices. Oversees site preparation activities including conduit, power, and signal cable runs.
* Analyzes, tests and repairs voice mail network alarms, file systems, disk drives and networking for multiple network designs, software versions and hardware platforms.
* Integrates, installs, and tests complex telecommunications systems in accordance with applicable standards.
* Provides technical support for a wide variety of telecommunication systems to meet business needs.
* Maintain modems for remotes and wide area linkages to meet business needs.
* Performs complex hardware and software configuration and setup of voice and video components.
* Documents problems and/or other matters of significance, customer configurations, change requests, and other topics to ensure appropriate response.
* Assists support personnel in investigating and resolving complex customer telecommunication network matters of significance.
* May provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
Basic Qualifications
* High school diploma or G.E.D.
* Four or more years of experience in system design or management information systems
* Experience working with technical and operational capabilities and implementation procedures
* Experience working with PC communications and configuration of network cards
* Experience working with network cabling practices and procedures
Other Qualifications
* Good analytical and problem solving skills to find and correct errors in the telecommunication networks
* Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members
* Basic leadership skills to coordinate projects and provide assistance to less experienced personnel
