Job Description
This position is responsible for the writing, drafting, editing, amending, updating and execution of all Payer Contracting Contracts and amendments to ensure that all provisions accurately reflect negotiated terms and are legally sound. Coordinates contract implementation with all affected parties at Intermountain Healthcare. The Senior Contract Analyst also is responsible for contract management, responds to payer inquiries and ensures that the contracting process is sound by maintaining a database of contracts and conferencing with General Legal Counsel. The Senior Analyst assumes responsibilities on key department and company projects as assigned by the manager. The Senior Analyst may also be assigned by the manager to take the lead role in handling certain payer accounts under the direct supervision of the manager .
Contract Supervision and Maintenance: Ensures that all contracts are properly drafted and executed. Responsible for writing contract language. Coordinates the contract with the finance and legal departments and obtains approval of the terms. Provides routine updating and renewal of contracts and amends the terms as circumstances arise. Writes amendments, contract provisions and correspondence in a manner consistent with legal regulations and Intermountain Standards. Updates contract language when it becomes outdated and keeps all provisions current. Obtains preliminary financial assessment of new clients. Researches the legal status of the entities with whom Intermountain contracts. Conferences with Intermountain General Legal Counsel in regard to contract provisions to provide background information clarifying the terms the Senior Contract Analyst has written and negotiated. Procures relevant information from payers to be included in contracts. Maintains a database of all contracts. Supervises the contracting process in the Department. Ensures that all Department members are aware of contract updates and policies. Leads the Department on proofing and approving contract changes.
Contract and Account Management: Responsible for account management by ensuring that contracts are properly implemented, adhered to and serviced. Disseminates information of newly signed or amended contracts to all affected parties at Intermountain. Attends routine meetings in various departments at Intermountain to keep abreast of developments which affect contract procedures.
Meets with payers to conduct contract negotiation and renegotiation, provide customer service, assess facilities and investigate new contract opportunities for Intermountain.
Contract Writing: Writes contracts and amendments which allow Payer Contracting to contract for new and existing products. Considers all applicable provisions and ensures that the contracts address all potential issues. Coordinates with all affected parties at Intermountain to ensure that their interests are addressed. Responsible for the writing and editing of these documents.
Responds to Payer Inquiries: Possesses a comprehensive working knowledge of the contracting process between Intermountain and payers. Knows and communicates Intermountain policies and procedures to payers. Provides superior customer service.
Assumes responsibility for monitoring and tracking various and ongoing department projects, tasks and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree obtained through an accredited institution; Education is verified
Four years professional experience in a role requiring extensive writing, analysis, contract management, customer service and project management
Two years experience in the healthcare industry or health insurance industry
Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications
